§ Mr. Marlandasked the Prime Minister whether it is proposed that gifts should 393W be presented to the Government and to the House of Assembly of Zimbabwe to mark the attainment of independence.
§ The Prime MinisterThe House will, I feel sure, wish to send congratulations to Zimbabwe on its attainment of independence, along with best wishes for the happiness and prosperity of the people of that country. Her Majesty's Government will propose that this House should offer a gift of a parliamentary character to the House of Assembly. Her Majesty's Government for their part will also offer a suitable gift to the Government of Zimbabwe to mark the occasion.
