HC Deb 24 March 1980 vol 981 cc432-3W
Mrs. Renée Short

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many documents and reports his Department has published under the "Croham directive" since May 1979; and if he will list them.

Mr. Patrick Jenkin

asked As my hon. Friend the Minister of State Civil Service Department told the House in reply to questions on 20 June 1979—[Vol. 968, c. 1316–171—the Government feel it is no longer possible to distinguish between material which would have been published in the normal course of events and that which is published because of previous initiatives.

In the case of my Department, which publishes a great deal of information, it is not possible without undue cost to identify material published during the last eight months of 1979 separately from that published in the first four months of that year. However, since January 1979, 89 items (excluding Command Papers, House of Commons Papers and routine publications) have been made available. Because of the numbers involved, I have arranged for a full list to be placed in the Library.
