asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what criteria are used by the Board of Inland Revenue in deciding whether or not to second staff to private bodies.

The general aim of the Inland Revenue is to secure that those of its staff seconded to private bodies have an opportunity to learn as much as possible about the way industry and commerce operate, and to widen their general experience of management and administration.
