§ Mr. Biggs-Davisonasked the Secretary of State for Defence what action was taken when the advertising agency employed by the Army to run the Army Officer campaign failed to comply with a direction to omit the objectionable sentence relating to "larky, unqualified officers" in a press advertisement.
§ Mr. HayhoeInstructions were issued that the sentence in question which formed part of the original press advertisement was to be omitted when the advertisement was used on subsequent occasions. Through an oversight the original copy was used again in the national press on 4 January 1980. The advertising agency was immediately informed of the error and instructed to destroy all the printing blocks which contained the original advertisement. The amended text has since appeared in the press on a number of occasions.
