HC Deb 19 March 1980 vol 981 c239W
Mr. Churchill

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will authorise forthwith the release to the British Olympic Association of funds voluntarily subscribed by Service men and their families, so that these funds may be used without restriction in support of the purposes for which they were subscribed.

Mr. Pym

Some of the money which has been collected by the Services for the British Olympic Appeal has been paid over already. A further sum will be made available shortly and the remainder will be paid over in due course. The period of the appeal is not yet complete. So far as the use of these funds is concerned it is not open to the MOD to impose restrictions which are inconsistent with the purposes for which they were subscribed by Service men and their families.
