§ Dr. VaughanThe Committee on Safety of Medicines advises the licensing authority on matters relating to the safety of drugs. Decisions of the licensing authority to revoke or vary a licence for a drug are made public when it is considered in the public interest to do so.
§ Mr. Ashleyasked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) if he will list the names of drugs which have been withdrawn from the market voluntarily by the manufacturers in each of the last 10 years; (2) if he will list the names of the drugs for which the manufacturers' recommendations or claims have been modified on the instructions of the licensing authorities in each of the last 10 years; (3) if he will list the names of the drugs which have been withdrawn on the instructions of the licensing authority in the last 10 years; and what was the reason for the instruction in each case.
