§ Mr. BrittanA list of Her Majesty's prisons is in Appendix 3 of the "Report on the Work of the Prison Department 1979 [Cmnd. 7619]. Appendix 4 of that report contains a breakdown of expenditure for prisons and remand centres, borstals and young prisoner centres, detention centres and female establishments, together with the average annual cost per inmate (net current expenditure) for the financial year ending 31 March 1978. The corresponding total figures for the financial year 1978–79 are as follows:
