§ Mr. D. E. Thomasasked the Prime Minister if she will list the responsibilities of the Secretary of State for Wales in relation to nuclear power in Wales, including the transport, storage and disposal of radioactive waste.
§ The Prime MinisterThe Secretary of State for Wales is responsible for authorising the disposal of radioactive waste from nuclear power stations in Wales and, together with the Secretaries of State for the Environment and Scotland, is responsible for policy on the management of civil nuclear waste. These are his only responsibilities in relation to nuclear power in Wales, apart from any planning matters which he may be called upon to determine.
