§ Sir George YoungThere were no deaths assigned to poliomyelitis or diphtheria in England and Wales in 1979. A final figure for the number of deaths assigned to tuberculosis—including late effects—is not yet available; on the basis of information currently available, it is estimated that the number will be between 875 and 885.
