§ Mr. Rowlandsasked the Secretary of State for Wales what is the allocation under the housing investment programme for Merthyr Tydfil for 1980–81; and how this compares with (a) the bid made by Merthyr Tydfil borough and (b) the allocation for 1979–80 in actual and real terms, taking into account inflation.
§ Mr. Wyn RobertsMerthyr Tydfil borough council was originally allocated under the previous Administration £3.92 million at outturn prices for 1979–80. We increased this to £4.7 million in January 1980 to meet the authority's latest forecast of its requirements for the year. The council has been allocated £3.61 million for 1980–81. Compared with the original allocation for 1979–80 the 1980–81 allocation shows a reduction of 8 per cent. in actual terms and 27 per cent. in real terms.
I refer the hon. Member to my reply on 14 January to the hon. Member for Merioneth (Mr. Thomas) regarding the confidentiality of housing investment programmes.—[Vol. 976, c. 622.]
