Mr. Straw

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what further steps he intends to take to encourage Government Departments, local authorities and nationalised industries to purchase from home manufacturers.

As public bodies are important customers of United Kingdom industry we intend to ensure that they use their relationship with United Kingdom suppliers to improve industrial performance to their mutual advantage.
