HC Deb 12 March 1980 vol 980 cc581-2W
Mr. Hal Miller

asked the Lord Privy Seal what change is proposed in the level of finance for the BBC external services over the next five years.

Mr. Blaker

As I said in the debate in the House on 13 November—[Vol. 973, cc. 1250–53]—the BBC external services have been asked to find savings of £2.7 million in 1980–81.

It would be premature, as regards the financial provisions for 1981–82 onwards, to make any statement in advance of the Government's White Paper on public expenditure due later this month.
