HC Deb 11 March 1980 vol 980 cc494-5W
Mr. Goodhew

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many persons registered as unemployed are listed by his local offices as not suitable to be offered vacancies.

Mr. Jim Lester

[pursuant to his reply, 7 March 1980]: All people registered as unemployed must be capable of and available for suitable employment. I am informed by the Manpower Services Commission, which is responsible for the public employment service, that there is no question of any unemployed registrants being listed as unsuitable to be submitted to appropriate job vacancies.
