HC Deb 11 March 1980 vol 980 c539W
Mr. David Steel

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what studies have been undertaken into the installation costs and potential capacities of electricity generating turbines in the dam of the Megget water scheme in Selkirkshire.

Mr. Younger

This would be a matter in the first instance for the South of Scotland Electricity Board and the local water authority concerned. I understand that commercial generation of electricity by the scheme currently under construction would be impracticable.
