asked the Secretary of State for Defence what is his estimate of expenditure on defence equipment for the year 1980–81.

Mr. Pym

Equipment expenditure is expected to be about the same proportion of the defence budget in 1980–81 as in the current year. Detailed information will be provided in the "Statement on the Defence Estimates" which I expect to publish on 2 April.
