asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the number, age and sex of each of the children aged 17 years and under in each of the special hospitals at the latest available date; and what are the numbers and ages of those in each hospital in adult wards.

Young people aged 17 or under detained in special hospitals on 5 March 1980.

The 14 patients at Moss Side are in a young person's ward; the patient at Broadmoor is in an adult ward.

There are no patients aged 17 or under at Rampton or Park Lane hospitals.
