HC Deb 07 March 1980 vol 980 cc358-9W
Mr. Alfred Morris

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will list all the local authorities in England which have appointed a disabled person to a committee of the authority as recommended by section 15 of the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act 1970; if he will specify the committees concerned in each case; what encouragement he has given to authorities to co-opt disabled people or otherwise to implement section 15; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Prentice

This information is not held centrally and could be collected only at disproportionate cost. I am sure that no local authority is in any doubt about the valuable contribution that informed disabled people can make to the work of the committees concerned, but it must be for the individual authority to decide on the composition of its committees.
