HC Deb 07 March 1980 vol 980 c358W
Mr. Rooker

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services when he expects to receive the report on the experiment of a general practitioner employing his spouse for payment in the practice; and if he will make a statement.

Dr. Vaughan

Reports from family practitioner committees on the working of the experimental related ancillary staff scheme have been received. Under this scheme, allowances are paid in respect of the work done by spouses and other dependent relatives in the practices of single-handed rural practitioners.

We are discussing with the representatives of the medical profession possible future arrangements in the light of these reports and other considerations.
