HC Deb 06 March 1980 vol 980 cc286-7W
Mr. Critchley

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what is now the practice of his Department with regard to the granting of work permits to visiting boxers contracted to fight in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Mayhew

[pursuant to his reply, 29 February 1980, c. 760]: It is my Department's present policy to issue work permits to enable first series overseas boxers to come to Great Britain to fight British and long-resident overseas opponents when the bout is to take place under the licence of the British Boxing Board of Control or the National Boxing Council.
