§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Minister of Transport whether he will give for the longest and most convenient stated period of time the number of fatal accidents that have occurred on the roads where irrefutable evidence has been produced to prove that these deaths were caused by the wearing and non-wearing of seat belts.
§ Mr. FowlerThe standard accident form contains no information as to the cause of death. However, in a special study of 1,126 accidents the Transport and Road Research Laboratory found no cases where the occupant would have fared better without a seat belt.
