HC Deb 06 March 1980 vol 980 c301W
Dr. Roger Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what part of National Health Service expenditure is spent on administration; and if he will publish any comparable figures for other countries available to him.

Dr. Vaughan

The estimated percentage of expenditure incurred by health authorities in England attributable to headquarters administration in the financial year 1978–79 was 4.15. The comparable percentages for Wales and Scotland were 4.17 and 4.07 respectively. We have no comparable information for other countries.
