asked the Minister of Transport what is his Department's estimate for the increase in vehicles in the United Kingdom between 1980 and 1990.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

In 1980 there will be some 19.4 million vehicles licensed. Our forecast is that these will increase to between 22 and 25.5 million vehicles in 1990.
