HC Deb 06 March 1980 vol 980 cc336-7W
16. Mr. Michael McNair-Wilson

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will make a statement about future financing for Harland and Wolff.

Mr. Giles Shaw

On 23 July 1979 I informed the House that the Government had agreed to provide further support for Harland and Wolff Ltd. within strict limits. The limit for the current financial year was set at £22 million.

A firm decision on the future level of support for the company depends on the results of a comprehensive review of the company's affairs which is currently under way. My decision will be notified to the House as soon as possible.
