HC Deb 06 March 1980 vol 980 cc327-8W
Mr. Crowther

asked the Secretary of State for industry (1) on what dates discussions were held between Ministers in his Department and representatives of the British Steel Corporation about the disposal of corporation assets;

(2) whether any distinction has been drawn between steel making and non-steel making activities of the British Steel Corporation in discussions with Ministers about the disposal of assets.

Mr. Michael Marshall

I shall reply to the hon. Member as soon as possible.

Mr. Crowther

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what contribution he expects to be made to the reduction of the public sector borrowing requirement during 1980–81 as a result of the disposal of assets by the British Steel Corporation.

Mr. Michal Marshall

The BSC has been told that it can retain for its own use all moneys realised from disposal of assets in 1980–81.
