HC Deb 05 March 1980 vol 980 c253W
Mr. Cohen

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what provisions are included in the contractual arrangements made with concessionaires who are providing refreshments for the public in Royal Parks in London in order to ensure that they are not overcharging for the services provided.

Mr. Monro

Catering contractors in Royal Parks are required to supply refreshments of good quality only and at prices approved by the Secretary of State. This is a condition of their contract.

Mr. Cohen

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether the staff employed by concessionaires in the Royal Parks in London are being paid in accordance with the rates agreed by the appropriate wages council.

Mr. Monro

Contractors in the Royal Parks are required to fulfil the obligations specified in the fair wages resolution passed by the House of Commons on 14 October 1946. This requirement forms part of their contract.
