Mr. Andrew F. Bennett

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list, for each county council in England for which objections to a revised draft definitive map of public rights of way are being considered by his Department (a) the date of review, as specified in section 33(1) of the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act 1949, (b) the total number of objections made to the draft revised map, (c) the number of objections for which inquiries have been held, (d) the numbers of objections for which decisions have been issued, and (e) the number of objections likely to be heard at inquiries during 1980.

Mr. Andrew F. Bennett

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what further action he will be taking in relation to his proposed changes to the law relating to the production and review of definitive maps of public right of way, as outlined in his consultation paper in August 1979.

Following consideration of the responses to the consultation paper I intend to publish a paper in the spring describing revised proposals in detail.
