HC Deb 05 March 1980 vol 980 cc200-1W
Mr. Butcher

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what percentage of Professional and Executive Register candidates find jobs through the Professional and Executive Register.

Mr. Jim Lester

I am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that in 1978–79 4 per cent. of candidates enrolling with PER found jobs through that service.

Mr. Butcher

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what is the average cost of placing a job-seeker through the Professional and Executive Register.

Mr. Jim Lester

I am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that the average gross cost per placing based on the total cost of PER's recruitment services in 1978–79 and the number of placings made in that year is £504.

When account is taken of income earned from employers using PER's recruitment services, there is no cost to public funds as PER made a trading surplus in 1978–79.
