§ Mr. Denis Howellasked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many sports organisations have been asked to meet Ministers from his Department during the period between 25 February and 7 March for discussions to persuade them to follow Her Majesty's Government's policy that they should not compete in the Olympic Games; and which sports council representatives were involved.
§ Mr. MonroDuring the period in question I have had discussions with the governing bodies of six Olympic sports to put directly to them the Government's policy on the Moscow Olympics. I have also held one of my regular meetings with the chairman and director-general of the Sports Council.
