HC Deb 05 March 1980 vol 980 cc204-5W
Mr. Nicholas Winterton

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what was the purchase price of the site of the new jobcentre in Macclesfield; what is the cost of the total construction of the centre; what is the estimated average annual revenue expenditure for the centre and how many people will be employed at the centre.

Mr. Jim Lester

[pursuant to his reply, 3 March 1980]; I am informed by the Manpower Services Commission (MSC) that it has not purchased the site of the new jobcentre in Macclesfield; the job-centre is in a private development, part of which the MSC will lease. The estimated adaptation costs (including professional fees) are £78,600 and the estimated annual operating costs, including staff salaries are £96,000. Eleven people will be employed in the jobcentre which is scheduled to open in February 1981.
