HC Deb 05 March 1980 vol 980 c221W
Mr. Butcher

asked the Secretary of State for Defence how many employees left his Department, for whatever reason, in 1977–78 and 1978–79.

Mr. Pym

The numbers of United Kingdom-based industrial and non-industrial civilian staff who left my Department during the financial years 1977–78 and 1978–79 were 40,021 and 41,131 respectively. These figures include personnel in the Royal ordnance factories, but exclude transfers of staff between the Ministry of Defence and other Departments.
