§ Mr. MacfarlaneThe Medical Research Council spent, in the four financial years starting with 1975–76, £1,280,000, £1,660,000, £2,140,000 and £2,190,000 respectively on research into tropical medicine from its grant from my Department's funds. The estimate for 1979–80 is £2,280,000. I cannot at this stage give a figure for 1980–81.
