Mr. Hannam

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services when he intends to implement EEC directive 79/7 of 19 December 1978 on the progressive implementation of the principle of equal treatment for men and women in matters of social security.

Mr. Prentice

As my right hon. Friend said when he moved the Second Reading of the Social Security Bill on 20 December 1979, it is intended that the changes needed to implement the directive should be introduced in November 1983 and November 1984.—[Vol. 976, c. 914.]
