HC Deb 04 March 1980 vol 980 c175W
Mr. Foulkes

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland when, and from whom, the Forestry Commission purchased the area of ground including Mullwharcher; and what conditions, if any, were included in the sale of the land with regard to mineral or fishing rights or related matters.

Mr. Younger

The area in question was purchased in 1945, together with the mineral and fishing rights, from the Cassilis and Culzean estates.

The only relevant condition attached was the right to fish the lochs and streams reserved to the Marquis of Ailsa for his lifetime or until 1966, in so far as it did not infringe the rights of sporting tenants.
