asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what assessment his Department has made of the preventive medical aspect of the mobile artery and vein imaging system "MAVIS" as a lifesaving facility to prevent strokes.

Mr. Fairgrieve

This equipment is being developed with the support of the Department of Health and Social Security who are sponsoring an evaluation of the system at two hospitals in England. My Department is keeping in touch with these developments.
