HC Deb 04 March 1980 vol 980 cc105-6W
Mr. Frank R. White

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what are the total number of fire-fighting vehicles in each region of England and Wales.

Mr. Brittan

Responsibility for making provision for fire-fighting purposes rests with individual fire authorities. There is no regional organisation for that purpose. The total number of fire-fighting appliances in England and Wales at 1 January 1979, the latest date for which informa- tion is available, was 4,384, of which 665 were reserve vehicles.
