HC Deb 04 March 1980 vol 980 cc155-6W
Mr. Ralph Howell

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list the schemes within the urban programme, referred to in the reply to the hon. Member for Norfolk, North, Official Report, 22 February, c. 364, which provide advice and services to the unemployed, together with the annual sums of money paid to each scheme since such schemes have been set up.

Mr. King

Most of the inner area programmes prepared by partnership and programme authorities have given a high priority to schemes designed to tackle the economic problems of their areas, and to improve the employment prospects of those living in the area. Many of the schemes, accordingly, directly or indirectly provide advice or services to the unemployed. To provide the details required for each such scheme could be done only at disproportionate cost.
