HC Deb 04 March 1980 vol 980 c146W
Mr. Fell

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the average weekly take-home pay for males and females, respectively, in the Great Yarmouth travel-to-work area, at the latest convenient date; and how these figures compare with the national averages.

Mr. Peter Rees

[pursuant to his reply, 3 March 1980]: Details of average earnings for Great Yarmouth are not available. The smallest comparable area for which they are defined is Norfolk. No details are available of the average level of allowances against income, but for persons with only the basic personal allowances the figures for that area are as follows:

WEEKLY TAKE HOME PAY AT CURRENT TAX RATES AT APRIL 1979 EARNINGS LEVELS
Norfolk Great Britain
£ £
Single men 66.00 71.80
Married men 69.80 75.60
Single women 44.80 47.40

National insurance contributions have been deducted at the non-contracted-out rate.
