Mr. David Priceasked the Secretary of State for Trade what is his estimate of the gross inward earnings of the British holiday and tourist industry in 1979; what was the external outflow on holidays and tourism; and what was the resultant net benefit, or loss to the United Kingdom balance of payments.
§ Mr. Tebbit£2,029 million inward earnings, £1,512 million external outflow and £517 million benefit to balance of payments, for the first nine months of 1979, which is the latest available information.
