asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the estimated cost, additional to the cost incurred under Civil List expenditure, to the public purse of the 1980 royal garden parties in Scotland and England.

The cost of royal garden parties in 1980 will, as is customary, be borne on the Civil List as supplemented by grants to the Royal Trustees from the Vote for economic and financial administration: Treasury class XIII, Vote 4, subhead A1. Parliamentary approval for the necessary grant to the Royal Trustees will be sought in Supply
