§ Mr. McNamaraasked the Secretary of State for Employment whether he will issue work permits to overseas students wishing to stay in Great Britain for two years after qualifying as chartered accountants in order to obtain the essential practising certificate.
§ Mr. Mayhew[pursuant to his reply, 29 February 1980]: Yes. Subject to the conditions of the training and work experience scheme being satisfied, my Department will continue to give approval for overseas students who, having qualified as chartered accountants, need to undertake in Great Britain employment which is necessary to enable them to obtain a practising certificate.
