HC Deb 03 March 1980 vol 980 c5W
Mr. Leighton

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make a statement on the policy of Her Majesty's Government following the decision of the EEC Commission not to seek an interim injunction from the European Court of Justice against illegal French curbs on imports of British lamb.

Mr. Buchanan-Smith

The European Commission is considering applying for an interim injunction in the course of its further legal proceedings in the European Court against the French Government's continued illegal restrictions on imports of sheepmeat from the United Kingdom. Commissioner Gundelach has given an assurance at the Council of Ministers on 18 February that the Commission would fully play its role as guardian of the Treaty.
