HL Deb 30 June 1980 vol 411 cc215-6WA
The Earl of AVON

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they have any statement to make on the price of the Official Report.

The Lord PRESIDENT of the COUNCIL (Lord Soames)

In order to contain the losses onHansard within the agreed subsidy for 1980–81 it is now necessary to increase the price of the Daily Edition from 45p to 80p and the Weekly Edition from 90p to £1.60. There will be corresponding increases in the prices of Indexes, bound volumes and subscription rates. The scale of charges for reprints of Peers' speeches appearing in the Official Report will also be raised. The revised prices will come into effect as soon as possible but annual subscriptions immediately become renewable at the new rates. Despite these increases, the publication of Hansard will still incur a substantial financial loss.

House adjourned at eleven minutes before one o'clock.
