HL Deb 30 June 1980 vol 411 cc211-2WA
Lord AVEBURY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Why, having regard to the Foreign Secretary's statement in his Written Answer of 17th June that special vouchers were taken up in India in May 1980 by United Kingdom passport-holders who had applied for them in June or early July 1975, Messrs. Navnit and Rajesh Patel (Voucher No. GG187 and GG188), who applied to the Deputy High Commission in Bombay on 25th July 1975, have been given a date in August for their interview.

Lord CARRINGTON

In my answer on 17th June I referred specifically to applications in June and early July 1975. Messrs. Navnit and Rajesh Patel applied on 25th July 1975. A large number of applications were lodged in July 1975 and applicants from this period have been called for interview between May and August 1980.
