§ Mr. Iain Millsasked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will consider special job creation schemes in order to encourage railways at present in private ownership.
§ Mr. Jim LesterProvision already exists for railway preservation companies to sponsor temporary employment and training schemes under the special temporary employment programme and the youth opportunities programme, both of which are administered by the Manpower Services Commission.
There are no plans to make separate provision for privately-owned railway companies.
