§ Mr. Meacherasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will bring forward proposals to license private investigators in order to afford protection to members of the public, to make available a formal complaints procedure, to lay down a specific code of practice and to provide for controlled access to sensitive information sources.
§ Mr. BrittanThe question of statutory control over private investigators is being considered as part of the current review of the private security industry. We hope to be able to indicate the Government's views in the near future.
