§ Mr. Allan Stewartasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will authorise the Royal Scottish Academy of 102W Music and Drama to acquire the site offered by Glasgow district council for the construction of a new academy.
§ Mr. YoungerI am glad to announce that I have authorised the academy to purchase from the district council a site at the corner of Hope Street and Renfrew Street in Glasgow, and to proceed with the preparation of plans for the new building which is required to provide improved facilities in Scotland for the teaching of music and drama at this level. The date on which construction of the new building can start will depend on progress with these plans and the availability of resources for the project.
