HC Deb 24 June 1980 vol 987 c94W
Mr. Speller

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will instruct his staff considering the consultation document on companies registration and business names to allow the continuance of the present dispensation for organisations such as the British School of Osteopathy to omit the word "Limited," from their title.

Mr. Eyre

The consultative document proposed to repeal section 19 of the Companies Act 1948, under which my right hon. Friend may license a company in certain circumstances to omit the word "limited" from its name. It takes staff time to supervise the conditions for licences, and changes in the constitution of companies that hold them. I shall of course, consider the representations made on the consultative document by the British School of Osteopathy and others.
