§ Mr. Canavanasked the Prime Minister whether, in view of the breakdown of the Scottish teachers' salaries negotiations and the fact that inflation is now running at 21.9 per cent., whereas the rate support grant order allowed for only 13 per cent. inflation, she will now seek to provide the Scottish local authorities with more financial assistance to make an improved offer to teachers.
