§ Mr. Sproatasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he plans to phase out the Scottish Sports Council on the lines of the recent decision to phase out the Sports Council of Northern Ireland; and what would be the savings in money and staff if the Scottish Sports Council were now to be ended in the same way as it is proposed to end the Sports Council of Northern Ireland.
§ Mr. YoungerI have no plans to discontinue or phase out the Scottish Sports 19W Council. If I were to do so the savings would depend on the alternative arrangements made for the discharge of the council's responsibilities and functions.
