HC Deb 19 June 1980 vol 986 c670W
Mr. McQuarrie

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what representations he has received from the National Farmers Union that the level of the recent Brussels price review is inadequate ; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Peter Walker

I received representations from the National Farmers Union about CAP price levels shortly before the settlement was reached on farm prices and subsequently. The agreement provided for a price increase of about 5 per cent. on average. This should been seen in the context of other action by the Government including three devaluations of the green pound and the highly advantageous settlement we secured on sheepmeat.
